Local angle on runoff

There may not have been any local races in Tuesday’s Primary Runoff Election, but there was a local candidate. Valarie D. Wilson, who won the Democratic Runoff vote and will face Republican Richard L. Woods for State School Superintendent in November, lists her hometown as Swainsboro. In Emanuel County Valarie Wilson garnered 95.70% of 395 hometown voters.
State wide Republicans favored David Perdue by a slim 50.88% margin to face fellow political newcomer Democrat Michelle Nunn in the US Senate race. In Emanuel County though, Republican voters would have preferred Jack Kingston. He had almost 75 percent of the 800 who voted. (74.63%.) Emanuel County Republicans would have also preferred Mike Buck for State School Superintendent, he had 59 percent of the in county vote.
