New vaccination requirements for 7th Graders

One more thing to remember before school starts is there are new vaccination requirements for Middle School students.
Dr. Patrick O’Neil with Georgia Department of Public Health says the TDAP booster is required for students entering 7th Grade, and those that are new to the school system. That shot guards against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis. O’Neil says that is meant to help combat any outbreaks of whooping cough. Also required is a vaccination against meningitis.
Other health officials point out that many times your child will have received the correct vaccinations, they just need to file the newest form for Certificate of Immunization. Contact your health provider where you may have received the inoculations, many times that is County Public Health Department.
